One year since knee surgery & one last night with the sis

- Four eggs
- Chicken breast with low carb honey mustard
- Two whole deviled eggs
- Taco bake with lettuce, sour cream and salsa
- Creamsicle jello

Today marks my one-year anniversary of quitting smoking!!!  It's also one year ago today that I had my reconstructive knee surgery.  I had an open-wedge osteotomy of my femur to correct a malunion of my knee.  It's been quite a year, but overall a great one.

My little sister is spending the night with us tonight and we are taking her out to dinner and to go bowling.  Our bowling alley has 5 dollar unlimited bowling on Thursdays. She leaves in the morning to move into the dorms, so we just had to hang out with her before she leaves.  Her college is in-state, but it's a good twelve hour drive one way.  I can't believe she is going off to college already... Time sure flies!   So, it should be a fun night!

New picture and Mama gets a new pair of shoes!

Here is me and gf at a wedding from a few weeks back!  (She has the shorter hair!) We drove the bride and groom in my dad's mustang from the church to their reception.

Got two new pairs of Skechers yesterday... One are like house slippers and the other pair are just regular brown shoes... The kind I would wear with jeans or khakis.  I need to get lifts on both of them.  It's nice now that I had my knee surgery that I only need 3/8 of an inch lift, versus a whole inch difference.    I still have one pair at the shoe repair place.  It's going to be nice to have the house slippers to putter around and and have my back be even without needing to wear my actual tennis shoes or boots.

I have a lot of work to do today.... Better get on it!

My meals yesterday were:
- Four eggs
- Two pancakes
- Three pancakes
- Two whole deviled eggs
- Green bean casserole with sausage added

RIP to Mr. Jingles.... His mommy (my super-amazing blog buddy)  must be having a sad day today....

Doggy workout room and me

- Four eggs
- Three low carb pancakes with Walden's sugar free syrup
- Chicken with low carb honey mustard
- Creamsicle jello

The dogs and I have quite the morning routine going.  I put on my shoes and socks, take them out back to potty, then we all three head down to the basement.  They each get on a treadmill while I do the recumbent bike.  I get the laundry going for the first five minutes then I end up going about fifteen minutes on the bike.  Then, we all go upstairs.... They potty again and then I get my shower and basically start my day.

The pug has always loved the treadmill since my gf has had him on it since he was 14 weeks old.  The big dog is actually starting to love it also!

My gf is such a good dog trainer that it usually only takes her five minutes to teach a dog how to run on a treadmill.  I've seen it take close to ten with a particularly older, stubborn, dominant dog, but it always can be done.

I have quite a bit of work on my plate today as far as web design and some graphic stuff and submitting my work to several places... and I have to hit up Walmart for a few things... and Meijer, too....for more shoes.  The shoes I got a couple days ago will not work with a lift... The shoe place said that the sole was too flimsy, which makes me sad because they were really comfortable!   I will just get take them back and get other ones, I suppose.  Maybe cute brown ones that will look cute with khakis sort of a deal.  My Meijer store has a deal this week.... Get a free 10 dollar gift card with a pair of Sketchers, so not bad at all.... Plus, lots of them are on sale now, too.

Car light on, making sausages, jeans

- Three eggs with a sausage patty
- Three low carb pancakes with a sausage patty
- Chicken breast with low carb honey mustard
- Creamsicle jello
- Four eggs

My car was acting funny, so I'm taking it over to gf's oil shop today and see if they can help me out over there.  I think there is a machine that they hook up to it to help diagnose the Service Engine Soon light.... or something.

Other than that, I'm in so much pain from my TOM. Ahhhh....  Oh, well, this, too shall pass!

I still have been doing 13-15 mins per day on the recumbent bike, which does not seem like a lot, but it's helping my leg muscles build up in my knee, I think.

I've been pattying up my own sausages and they are like 10x better than the Great Value pre-pattied, pre-cooked ones from Walmart.  We pick them up when we see them for BOGO.

I ordered some new pants from Old Navy online.... Got some jeans for 18.75 and they are the only place where I can find that has a 36'' inseam for a good price.  I ordered size 10.... Even if they are little tight, they will just become my goal jeans.

One year post-op open-wedge osteotomy of the femur

All in all, my one-year post-op knee surgery appointment went well.

They measured the angles on my knees and they are the exact same!  This is a huge win.  Also, my bone is completely healed, which is amazing.  The x-ray showed nice, solid bone and it looks really awesome.  My surgeon is happy with my weight loss and the fact that I quit smoking.  He called me one of his "success stories," which I was tickled about.  I really respect this surgeon and so his word means a lot to me.

Really the only down-side is that I do have some pain still from the hardware.  I have a steel plate in my knee along with some long screws.  Most of the pain comes from the plate.  He said that most people do not get the hardware removed, but some do, especially if it's causing pain.  Taking it out would involve new bone growing in where the hardware once was.

Now, the idea of them removing the hardware is not something I want to go through and I'm doing everything I can to avoid it.  I've been on the recumbent bike (13 mins a day for two days now).  I'm starting off slow and steady so that it's something that I can build on and really build up the strength in my knee.  My surgeon told me that the more that I build up the muscle in my leg, the more it will ease my pain.

I'm really banking on not having another surgery... (Well, I know eventually I will, but I want to avoid this hardware-removal if I can).  The recovery would involve months of partial-weight-bearing and that just is something I want to avoid completely if I can.

The anti-depressant / anti-anxiety that I take (Viibryd) basically forbids me from taking any kind of NSAID or Tramadol.  That leaves the oxycodone, which is what I've been taking.  He wants me off of that eventually, which is the main reason for him suggesting removing the hardware... so that I'm not in the kind of pain where I have to take it.  He is glad that I'm only taking about 15 mg per day, down from about 60, but we both want to get to the point where I don't need it anymore. Extra-strength Tylenol is about the only thing I'm left with, so I'm doing my best to build up my muscles to lessen the pain.

I've been staying low-carb.... but I wanted to give you guys an update!

Thanks for reading and thanks to Oct and Judith for checking in on me!

- Two hamburger patties
- Two more burger patties
- Creamsicle jello
- Tuna "rice" casserole

Burger was on sale this week for $1.77 per pound, so of course I had to take full advantage of it.....

For whatever reason, I quit actually blogging on here and of course my food choices are usually far-from-intriguing.........

I turned 30, my last weigh-in was 205 which kind of pissed me off not to be under 200, but I it's still 101.6 pounds down from my highest weight, so it's not too-too bad.

We have been working hard to get Ang's pet sitting business off the ground.
