Suggestions, please!

Due to my newfound protein shake obsession... I will be buying more protein powders.

Does anybody have any suggestions on good flavors that are low-carb? I really love the french vanilla whey, so I'm sure I will get more of that... but is there any flavor that I just have to have?

Also, I usually shop netrition, so I will probably shop there... unless there is a far cheaper source? I know they usually have very good prices and quick and cheap shipping.

Please tell me which flavors and brands are the best... I'm a total protein-shake newbie!

By the way, for all you protein shake junkies and wannabes, check out this awesome list!

  1. I have no suggestions here, I only have the vanilla designer whey protein powder (is the french vanilla better? I want to try the double chocolate...imagine a peanut butter shake made with that....ah yummy!

  3. Angie,

I usually go for the all-natural proteins. This often limits the flavor options to berry, chocolate, unflavored and vanilla.

I try to mix things up by adding natural flavors of my own - cinnamon or pumpkin spice, coffee and peppermint, for instance.

Lately, I've enjoyed making "mint-chip" shakes - cold water, ice, cocoa powder, vanilla protein powder, sprouted flax, stevia, natural peppermint extract, Also Salt and some heavy cream.

I usually buy our protein powder from IHerb.com. My three most common choices are: MRM's Vanilla Egg White Protein, Source Natural's Vanilla True Whey and Jarrow's Unflavored Whey Protein.

I've also tried the Jay Robb proteins and generally enjoyed them. But, they're more expensive in my experience.

  4. But I bought a about 10 different flavours from Netrition.com
    The stuff was called Nectar.
I call it "transitional." As time goes by I will lose my craving for sweetness and lean more toward the "all natural" ones. But for now, they bridge the gap! Tasty!
